About Eric

Eric Richardson – ThetaHealing Master

Eric Richardson has a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Metaphysical Science from the University of Sedona, USA. He is South Africa’s first-ever ThetaHealing master, an ordained reverend in the international metaphysical ministry, and a published author featured in Who’s Who of South Africa?

At the age of 15 Eric’s sister and grandmother were killed in a car accident. This experience changed his life, and since then he has been determined to remain God-focused while accessing the Truth, and enabling others to develop their faculties to access universal Truth for themselves. This quest prompted him to study Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, History, gender and sexuality issues, ethics, different healing modalities and self-development techniques, and to travel to many countries so as to learn about art, culture and diversity.

He qualified as a teacher in 1992, and initially taught English at Jeppe High School for Boys, Johannesburg. For 8 years he worked as a housemaster in Oribi, which was one of the boarding houses. During this time he developed his intuition and ability to listen and help people heal emotional wounds.

In 1997 he became a lecturer in teacher education at the Johannesburg College of Education and the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. His focus was Philosophy and Sociology of Education and he introduced into the curriculum courses on gender and sexual diversity, enabling teachers to challenge heteronormativity and sexism, and a module dealing with why children commit crimes. He was involved in the training of student teachers, teachers and principals.

In 2006 Eric left lecturing to take up a leadership position at Themba HIV/Aids Organisation aka Themba Interactive). Within six months, Eric became Managing Director of the charity. This started a new chapter in his life which saw him managing organisational change, staff development, marketing activities, communications with donors, government departments, and corporate clients, board liaison, fundraising and more. Although very rewarding the position was stressful affecting his health. His achievements at the charity were rewarded in 2008 when he was selected by a national newspaper as one of the “200 Young South Africans you must take to lunch”. He was then appointed by the Mail & Guardian newspaper as a volunteer member of the expert’s judging panel for their annual “Investing in the Future Awards”.

In 2009 Eric learned about ThetaHealing while reading an international magazine. He liked that ThetaHealing spoke about the unconditional love of God and the universal truths common to all religions. The way the modality considers the links between mind, body and spirit really appealed to him. Because the modality was not yet in South Africa he decided to learn its techniques on a visit to London. He met Vianna soon after his dad died, and became an instructor that year. Eric left the NPO at the end of March 2011 to run ThetaHealing SA. He has completed further training in Auckland, New Zealand and in Idaho Falls, USA, and so far has facilitated over 30 ThetaHealing courses. He has also published over 20 journal articles and book chapters on gender and sexuality in social justice education and a number of articles on ThetaHealing.  Eric offers courses throughout the world and remains involved in one-on-one healing sessions, research, public speaking, writing, and the development of short workshops. He is seen here with Vianna Stibal, founder of ThetaHealing.
